FBLA-PBL’s Service programs develop civic-minded leaders dedicated to utilizing business skills to positively contribute to school, community, and global causes.
Our service programs provide hands-on opportunities to practice leadership, experience project management, and exercise a full range of professional and technical skills necessary for successful enterprises.
This program simulates the management of a business or nonprofit enterprise through the operations of the FBLA-PBL chapter at the local, state, and national level. Members are selected to be “corporate officers” (e.g. President/CEO, Vice President, Treasurer, etc.) who then receive intensive officer training with their teacher/adviser serving as an executive mentor. Officers work in teams to develop vision and strategy, set goals, determine budgets, manage projects, provide customer service, conduct business meetings, lead marketing and communication efforts, and celebrate success.
Mission LIFT (Leading Into the Future Together) is a joint service program between FBLA-PBL and the March of Dimes to give hope to more than half a million babies born premature or with birth defects each year. Mission LIFT enlists the business and leadership talents of FBLA-PBL members through student-led volunteerism projects aimed at providing urgent support to local programs and medical research that helps moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies.
The FBLA-PBL Community Service Project is a competitive event designed to mobilize youth leaders to successfully serve the needs of citizens in the local community of FBLA-PBL schools. Participants in this program use business skills to research and assess community needs, develop projects and strategies for service, and enlist FBLA-PBL members and the community to positively contribute to the lives of citizens. Members then create a comprehensive report and deliver business presentations to judges from the business community who evaluate the service initiative, project organization, public relations results, and degree of successful impact to the community
Curriculum designed by FBLA-PBL and the March of Dimes that integrates classroom learning with community service, school-to-work, and leadership training. The curriculum contains five modules concentrating on volunteer development, mission marketing, event management, public relations, and selling. The curriculum is aligned to the National Standards for Business Education and is complimentary to active FBLA-PBL chapters.
