Institute for Leaders and National Leadership Conference was held in Chicago, Illinois from June 28- July 2. Institute for Leaders, (IFL). Tri Leadership presented this seminar and helped all officers and members that attended to become better at their position. There were officers and members from all around the nation. During IFL officers were able to connect and share ideas from their state with other officers.
Members were able to have hands on experience on how to create a successful chapter, as well as what to do with all the important documentation. During IFL, we were split into different groups that consisted of state officers and members from around the nation. Together we had various tasks that we had to preform in order to get to know each other better. I was able to connect with state officers from various states, such as Wisconsin, New York, Nebraska, Texas, and the Virgin Islands. Hearing the different ideas from so many different states was very inspiring and informational as well. The friendship that I created while attending IFL, made National Leadership Conference more exciting.
NLC was held June 30- July 2. During the NLC workshops, such as “Are you ready for the Career of your dreams” and “Networking your way to success” was held for anyone who wanted to come and learn more about careers and networking. There were also great Keynote speakers that shared ideas and information on leadership.
Alabama is also very proud of our many national competitive event winners who were honored at the Awards of Excellence Ceremony. We look forward to seeing who will compete in the coming year and be the next Alabama FBLA members to walk across the stage earning their title. Not only were many of our members recognized, but Alabama FBLA received a numerous recognitions at the Southern Region Rally. These included, Largest Membership Increase in the Southern region and many more.
During NLC March of Dimes held a mini- walk. Alabama FBLA was recognized as the number one contributor to the March of Dimes in the nation by raising over $68,000. Raising this money allowed us the chance to walk in the front of the line with Elijia, the national March of Dimes Ambassador. We had the privilege of meeting and talking with Elijia and his family. Also at NLC, National officer positions were elected and confirmed. The campaign booths were a great opportunity to understand what their plans were for the upcoming year, if they were to be elected. The Southern Region is proud to announce that we have a Vice President, Alexis Crane from our great state of Alabama. Everyone on the Alabama FBLA state officer team is proud of the accomplishments that Alexis has made, and we cannot wait to see what great things she will do this year for Alabama FBLA.
In all, IFL and NLC were great experiences for both state officers and members. This allowed both the State Officers and the members to experience different leadership events and connect with others for all over the nation. I know that everyone in attendance had a fantastic time, and for anyone who didn’t have the chance to go, I hope that, they can experience it next year with us in Atlanta, Georgia.
